Spring Dance Concert

Skiffle & African-American Roots Music

Choreographers collaborate on a concert devoted to the roots of skiffle music. Skiffle (actually a synonym for early jug band music) emerged in the 1920s in the U.S. In the 1950s a skiffle revival took place in the United Kingdom, parallel to the rise of early rhythm & blues and rock & roll. Classical ballet, jazz and contemporary dance will be performed.
