University Dance Company

Faculty choreographers Maya Tillman-Rayton and Claire Buss present a theatrical nod to the 1970's New York City dance scene that includes jazz, hip hop, and disco styles; Michelle Heffner Hayes presents a meditative, rhythmic, contemporary modern work with music composed by Forrest Pierce of the KU School of Music; and guest artist Sam McReynolds brings a work based on the ethos "People first, dancers second, always equal." McReynolds choreographs in Kansas City and Los Angeles for stage and screen. He dances with the Owen/Cox Dance Company.

Performance Dates: April 10, 11, 12, 2025

Audition Date: Wednesday, January 21, 5:30 p.m. in 242 Robinson

Rehearsal Schedules:

• Claire Buss: Tuesdays 6 - 8 p.m. & Fridays 2 - 4 p.m.
• Michelle Heffner Hayes: Wednesdays 4 - 6 p.m. & Fridays 1 - 3 p.m.
• Maya Tillman-Rayton: Tuesdays 5 - 7 p.m. & Fridays 2 - 4 p.m.
• Sam McReynolds : Weekdays, February 16 - 28, 4- 7 p.m.; Retention rehearsals Fridays 1 -2 p.m.
• There will be a mandatory cast meeting in the afternoon of Friday, January 23
• Rehearsals begin January 26. Technical/Dress Rehearsals begin March 31.
  • There will be no rehearsals during Spring Break

• You will need to create a free profile on Casting Manager if you do not already have one
  • Use the link above to register
  • Please upload a profile photo that clearly shows your face
  • Upload a dance resume or list your experience on your profile
  • Other casting information, contacts, education, training, and awards are all optional
• Register for the audition
  • You will be asked if you are available for each choreographer's rehearsals
  • There is a calendar where you can mark specific dates you have conflicts
    • Please list as much detail as possible in the conflict notes
  • Your registration information can be updated up until the audition date
