Joan Stone

Lecturer in Dance History

Joan StoneJoan Stone teaches dance history and choreography. She holds a bachelor's degree from Sarah Larence College, a master's degree in urban studies from Yale University and did graduate study in anthropology at Columbia University. She performed as a soloist in the United States and Italy and directed the environmental dance troupe, 4-5-6 Speed-Up, before turning her attention to the reconstruction of Renaissance and Baroque dances for concerts and workshops in the Midwest. Her recent work includes choreography and text for a videotape, Baroque Dances and Baroque Keyboard Music, Alfred Publishing Company, Los Angeles and travel to Tajikistan and India for research, teaching and performing.
